Sahara to refund Rs 24,000 cr to investors

Filled under: Sahara Group on Friday assured the Supreme Court that its two companies which had raised Rs 24,000 crore through Optionally Fully Convertible Debentures (OFCDs) from their investors will refund the amount within three months, according to a PTI report. Like millions of Indians, Jag Ram Chaudhary invested with the Sahara conglomerate - 1,300 rupees a month in his case - to put away money for a rainy day. "My wife had an accident some years back. I don't have much savings, so I thought I'll be able to save some money by putting in a small amount every month," said Chaudhary, an office helper at a construction company in Uttar Pradesh. PETA Protests

Filled under:, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) raised more than eyebrows with their risqué ad campaigns alongside hidden-camera footage of animal cruelty. Now, PETA is turning heads again with new campaigns against the killing of seals, snakes and other animals. Hollywood celebrities who have featured in racy PETA ads include Maggie Q, Charlize Theron, Anna Nicole Smith and Pamela Anderson. An activist of People for the Ethical treatment of Animals (PeTA) attired to look like a pice of meat meal within a meal ies on a huge plate during a demonstration in Bangalore on September 21, 2012. The activists staged the demonstration to urge public to go vegan and stop violence against animals to mark the International Day of Peace.

Saina Nehwal flies high in IAF aircraft

Filled under: medal winner Saina Nehwal today flew in an Indian Air Force aircraft. Flying in the 'Kiran MK I' jet trainer. Saina described the experience as dream come true. She took off from the training academy in Dindigul and flew for about 20 minutes. The aircraft is used by the Indian Air Force to train amateur pilots. Saina, the London Olympic bronze medallist, enjoyed the thrill of flying in the Kiran Jet Trainer.
